The flavor is very potent and robust. The medicinal and earthy notes are very strong, sometimes described as slightly "phenolic" or "astringent." The sweetness is significantly less prominent compared to the powerful characteristic Manuka flavors. The bitterness can be quite distinct, and there's often a long, lingering, and intense aftertaste. This is usually chosen for its therapeutic properties rather than purely for taste.
